Raging Waters

While on vacation in Ca we went with Brian's family to Raging Waters in San Jose. The kids had a lot of fun. The pictures will give a better insight than I can.

Spudman Triathlon

On July 26th we went up to Burley, Id to do our 1st Olympic size triathlon. It consisted of a 1mile swim, 25 mile bike and a 6.2 mile run. We had a good time but must admit we were happy to have it over with. We were able to do it with several of our good friends which makes the memories a lot more special! We hope to make this a yearly tradition.

Bear Lake 2008

On July 15th we headed up to Bear Lake with our friends the Carricks and the Sampsons. When we pulled into the KOA, Adam rushed to get out of the car and stood up quickly hitting his head on the spot where our dvd used to be (thats a whole nother story). After cleaning him up and settling in we went down to the lake. What a beautiful lake!!! So blue with really nice sandy beaches. Kids played in the water and most of us attempted to skimboard, it would be fun if you knew what you were doing. Afterwards we went back for dinner, a quick round of mini golf and a campfire with smores!!! My favorite!! The next day was pretty much the same itinerary but Travis brought his boat. My uncoordinated self was able to get up long enough to knee board for the 1st time. It was a lot of fun. I look forward to making this trip every year and nourishing the relationship between Aaron & Lexie. She is so cute!

Annie Turns 4!

Annie turned 4 on Sunday ~ July 13th. We kept it low key but tried to make her feel special. Aunt Becca & Uncle Kyle came over and we BBQ'd, had cake and ice cream and opened presents. At church that morning during primary they were doing the opening exercises and the primary president said "it doesn't look like we have any birthdays so we'll move on to . . . . " Annie yelled out "Hey, it's MY BIRTHDAY". She was so excited for her Birthday. We love her. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNIE!

Andrew Earns His Bear

It took 10 months but he finally did it, Andrew earned his Bear for cub scouts. He is so busy with sports, school, piano and play that its hard to stay on top of everything but he seems to do it with a little encouragement. We are proud of him and all he accomplishes.

Can't Wait to Grow Up

Since Andrew and Adam have been playing baseball Aussie has been running around the house with a ball and bat in hand almost constantly. We thought we'd capture a few cute pics of him doing so.

4th of July

We had a very simple 4Th of July this year. I was a little disappointed we didn't have big plans but it was actually really nice. We got up early for a neighborhood flag raising ceremony in which Andrew's scout troop participated. Afterwards they had a light breakfast. We then had a relaxing day at home and enjoyed some water games as a family. Later in the evening we met up with some friends for a B.B.Q. but it ended up being extremely windy. A group of neighbors then gathered together for our own fireworks show. The kids had a lot of fun.

I'm A Big Girl Now

Okay, I admit it I succumbed to my child. It was my turn to drive Andrew and his friends to basketball camp on Tuesday and I had a couple of hours to kill. Annie and I decided to walk around the mall when we saw an ear piercing store. She has been wanting her ears pierced but we had always kind of said we weren't going to do it until she was 8. Well I gave in! Spur of the moment we got her ears pierced. I regretted it right after and rightfully so. She has already taken them out 2 times and has 5 more weeks to go before she is supposed to take them out. Live and learn right?

When I went to pick up Andrew from camp Annie ran up to him and was so excited to show him her new earrings. Andrew looked at me and said "Mom, you really let her get her ears pierced? Well, it does make her look prettier though."

Giraffe Bacon

Just had to include this little comment from Aaron. It was too cute and gave Brian and I a good laugh.
We were sitting down for dinner and having pasta with grilled chicken on top. Aaron had a piece of chicken on his fork and asked "mom, is this giraffe bacon?" Several times I asked "what are you talking about?" and he kept asking "is this giraffe bacon?" Finally I said "Aaron, why do you think it is giraffe bacon?" He replied "because it has stripes" (you know, from the grill). I think he really meant zebra bacon though.

Wasatch Ragnar Relay

I was asked to take a spot on a Wasatch Ragnar Relay team 2 weeks before the event. I agreed but with much hesitation. Why you ask? Well for one thing I didn't know a single person on the team and secondly many train for months before the event. Although I have been continually training for triathlons I wasn't sure if I was trained enough for the run and especially the hills.

For those of you who don't know about this event, you have a team of 12 people, 6 in one van and 6 in another. There are close to 600 teams participating. The first group takes turns running while the second eats, sleeps and showers. Then you switch. Each person has a total of 3 legs they are required to run. You start in Logan, Ut and run to Heber an then back up to Park City. It totals 180 Miles.

Our team started at 1pm on Friday, June 20th. My 1st leg was 6.7 miles, I was the second runner so I ran at around 1:30pm. That was the worst run I have ever done in my life! It was so hot, around 95 degrees, and the run was rated hard so there were quite a few hills. My next leg was only 3 miles and I ran it around 10pm. That was a much more enjoyable run. My last leg was 5.3 miles and my favorite run. I ran it at around 6am on Saturday morning. The weather was cool and the scenery absolutely beautiful! Our team crossed the finish line at 2pm on Saturday the 21st.

With it all said and done, I had a really good time. Everyone on the team was very nice and I enjoyed getting to know them even though I was kind of forced to being that we were together for over 25 hours non stop. Despite the fact that I had maybe 2 hours of sleep that night and not a real meal until Saturday afternoon, I'll still admit it was fun!

Remember, I had no sleep!

I went to Liberty Park in Salt Lake with a few gals from the neighborhood. The kids had so much fun playing with their friends. Even though its a lot of work taking all my munchkins out, it's worth the memories.

Austin Turns 2!

Aussie turned 2 on Monday, June 16. It was the day after Father's Day and I had come down with a flu/cold bug. Needless to say we didn't have much planned. Annie and I baked a cake and Andrew, Adam & Aaron frosted and decorated it. We packed a picnic dinner and headed for the park. We played, ate and had lots of cake. When we took off the cake cover the frosting had stuck to the lid. Andrew was very disappointed because he worked so hard writing "Happy Birthday Aussie" in alternating colors. I think it was the perfect day for a 2 year old!
